negative exponents of quadratic equations

I've always wanted to learn negative exponents of quadratic equations, it seems like there's a lot that can be done with it that I can't do otherwise. I've searched the internet for some useful learning tools , and checked the local library for some books, but all the information seems to be targeted at people who already understand the subject. Is there any tool that can help new people as well?

I remember having problems with parallel lines, side-angle-side similarity and adding exponents. Algebrator is a really great piece of algebra software. I have used it through several algebra classes - Pre Algebra, Pre Algebra and Remedial Algebra. I would simply type in the problem from a workbook and by clicking on Solve, step by step solution would appear. The program is highly recommended.
